Terms of use

For Trace: ADHD Diary & Tracker. Version 2, in force from October 22, 2026.

These terms are an agreement between you and Trace ADHD Ltd about using Trace. By using Trace you agree to them. If you live in the US, please read the part on disputes: it says that disputes are settled by individual arbitration, not in court or as a class, unless you opt out within 30 days.

Who we are

Trace ADHD Ltd makes Trace. It is a company registered in England and Wales, company number 17480983, with its registered office at 124 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX. Write to us at hello@trace-adhd.com.

What Trace is

Trace is a private diary for adults with ADHD. It keeps what you enter, sends the reminders you set, and shows your entries back to you as counts, charts and reports. Its stories and articles are general information.

Trace never interprets your entries. It doesn't recommend a medicine, an amount, a time to take it or a change to treatment.

Trace is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition. Talk to your prescriber or doctor about your treatment.

Trace is not for emergencies. In an emergency, call 999 in the UK, 911 in the US or Canada, 000 in Australia, or 111 in New Zealand. If you're struggling, Trace's Help screen lists free support lines for your country.

Who can use it

You must be 18 or over and live in the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Australia or New Zealand. You use Trace for yourself, not for someone else or for a business.

Your diary

What you enter is yours, and is kept on your phone. We never receive it. Our privacy policy says what we do receive.

Free and Premium

Trace is free to use: logging, rating your days, reminders, widgets, backups and exports, and your first appointment report and first monthly review, among other things. Premium unlocks more: every chart, all of Learn's stories, articles and courses, unlimited appointment reports, and every monthly review.

Using Trace fairly

Don't misuse Trace: don't try to get around Premium, reach data that isn't yours, overload or break the service, copy or resell the app or its content, or use it against the law. We may stop providing Trace to someone who does.

Our app, and your license to use it

We own Trace, its design, its words and its stories and articles. We give you a personal, non-transferable license to use Trace on phones you own or control, for as long as you follow these terms. You may not copy, change, or take apart the app, except as the law allows.

Changes to Trace and to these terms

We may improve Trace, and change or stop parts of it. We may change these terms. If a change matters, we tell you in the app before it applies; if you don't agree, stop using Trace and cancel before then. The version at the top says which this is.

If we ever stop Trace, we tell you at least 30 days before, and your diary is still on your phone for you to export.

Our responsibility

Your rights under consumer law come first. If you live in the UK, Canada, Australia or New Zealand, or in a US state that gives you rights that can't be waived, you have rights under consumer law that these terms don't limit. These include the guarantees in the Australian Consumer Law and New Zealand's Consumer Guarantees Act, and your rights under the UK's Consumer Rights Act 2015. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit.

Apart from those rights, we build Trace with care, but we provide it as is and as available. To the extent the law allows, we make no promises beyond these terms, including that Trace will always be available, free of bugs, or right for your purpose, and we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. To the extent the law allows: we aren't liable for losses that weren't foreseeable, or for lost data, profits or goodwill; and our total liability to you for all claims about Trace is limited to the greater of what you paid for Trace in the 12 months before the claim, or $50 (or its equivalent in your currency).

Disputes

Talk to us first. If you have a problem with Trace, write to hello@trace-adhd.com with your name and what you want. We'll try to resolve it within 60 days, and we'll do the same for you before bringing any claim.

If you live outside the US

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. You keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim in the courts there or in the courts of England and Wales.

If you live in the US

Arbitration. If we can't resolve a dispute, you and we agree that any dispute about Trace or these terms is settled by binding individual arbitration, administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, which are at adr.org. The arbitrator may award the same relief a court could, for you individually. A hearing, if any, is by video or phone, or in the county where you live. We pay the filing, administration and arbitrator fees the rules ask a business to pay. The Federal Arbitration Act governs this part.

Small claims. Either of us may take a claim to small-claims court instead, if it qualifies there.

No class actions. Claims are brought individually only, never as a plaintiff or class member in a class, collective or representative action, and you and we each give up the right to a jury trial. If this paragraph can't be enforced for a claim, that claim goes to court, not arbitration.

You can opt out of arbitration within 30 days of first subscribing, or of first using Trace if you never subscribe, by emailing hello@trace-adhd.com with your name and "Arbitration opt-out". Opting out doesn't change anything else in these terms.

Governing law. For people in the US, these terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware and the United States, without regard to rules on conflicts of law. A dispute that isn't arbitrated goes to the state or federal courts in Delaware, or the courts where you live, if you choose.

Ending

You can stop using Trace at any time. Settings → Delete everything erases your diary from your phone; canceling your subscription is in your store, as above. These terms keep applying to anything that happened before, and their parts on our responsibility and disputes keep applying after.

If you got Trace from Apple's App Store

These terms are between you and Trace ADHD Ltd, not Apple, and also apply as the license agreement for the app. In addition:

If you got Trace from Google Play

Google Play's terms apply to your purchase, as well as these terms. Google isn't responsible for Trace or its content; we are.

General

These terms, with the privacy policy, are the whole agreement between you and us about Trace. If a part can't be enforced, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a part at once, we haven't given it up. You can't transfer your rights under these terms; we may transfer ours to someone who takes over Trace, who must honor them.
